BET YOU DIDN'T KNOWThe word 'tiffin' originated in British India and comes from the slang word, 'tiffing' which means “taking a little a sip”. It refers to a second breakfast or lunch and can also mean a light meal. In South India, it refers to a snack eaten between meals while in other regions of India, it refers to a light packed lunch.
In England, Afternoon Tea, also called ‘high tea’ in hotels, often consists of three courses composed of savouries (usually delicately cut sandwiches), scones with jam and clotted cream and pastries and cakes. The tradition originated in the early nineteenth century.
