This is the setting for your dinner with a view. You'll start with a selection of fresh seafood, then have your choice of mouth-watering main dishes, matched with the perfect wine. Michael Roper A well travelled chef
Michael Roper started his culinary career in his native Yorkshire. It was in a small village pub and restaurant that he gained his solid grounding in kitchen operations, whilst attending culinary college at Scarborough. With a sense of adventure, and some knives, he then travelled to Hong Kong, where he worked for the Post 97 Group in Lan Kwai Fong for 2 years.

In 1999 Michael went to work with Andrew McConell in Shanghai at M on The Bund. Michael spent the next seven years at M on The Bund, running this extremely busy restaurant. It was at M’s that he started to focus on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. The owner of the restaurant, Michelle Garnaut, was a driving force, due to her extensive travels and love of these cuisines.

Michael returned to Australia in 2007, and has been at the Deck since its opening seven years ago. He has managed to introduce a Mediterranean theme, with some Middle Eastern touches within his menus, whilst also embracing some of his other international experiences.
